Habitat Program

Although the Cantabrian Mountains are a natural territory with a high environmental quality, the loss and fragmentation of forest habitats, as well as human caused disturbances, are one of the main problems faced by bears for their survival. Forest fires, mining and various infrastructures in sensitive areas are some of the activities that reduce the quality of bear territory. The Habitat Program of the Fundación Oso Pardo encompasses all actions and projects aimed at reducing the impacts and, specially, improving the quality and safety of den areas and feeding places and restoring functional connectivity of the landscape.
